NBA All Star Game
A world within the jersey - NBA All-Star Art Garden, 2026
For the 2026 NBA All-Star Art Garden, Sadie Rose brought her surrealist perspective to basketball with Within, a life-size jersey sculpture. Presented at Intuit Dome during All-Star Weekend, the piece invites viewers to look beyond the uniform and consider the imagination, ambition and humanity beneath it.

WITHIN: THE DREAM INSIDE THE JERSEY
Sadie began with a real basketball jersey, shaping its fabric into expressive folds before hardening it with resin. A reflective exterior surrounds an interior painted with blue skies and clouds. Without a player’s name, number or team, the jersey becomes a form anyone can identify with.
The contrast carries the work’s meaning: a public silhouette holds a private world. Its shifting reflections connect the viewer to the piece, while the painted sky suggests the dreams and dedication behind achievement.

BASKETBALL, ART & A GARDEN OF IDEAS
Sadie was one of ten Southern California artists selected for the inaugural exhibition. Set among living plants, the Art Garden gave All-Star visitors a space to experience basketball through sculpture and other creative forms. Within brought her personal visual language to that shared celebration.
FROM LAGUNA BEACH TO ALL-STAR
Sadie Rose is a contemporary artist based in Laguna Beach and a graduate of California Institute of the Arts. Through painting and sculpture, she brings recognizable subjects into dreamlike settings. Her artist-run gallery and working studio opened in July 2025, offering a home for an evolving practice that also extends into public art and collaborations. The NBA project carried that practice into the world of basketball.
