Pixel Buds
"Pixel Buds" is a series of paintings that focus on the representation of dried cannabis and hemp buds. Sadie studies the colors in each unique bud and puts an emphasis on their unique visual composition by painting them in a series of layered polk-a-dots. Similar to a pixel if you zoom into a digital image, the color becomes sectioned and fragmented. Sadie intentionally uses various sized dots to group together shadows and highlights giving these paintings the appearance of colors bursting out of the canvas.
